The second report announcement: what was planned in January 2009

A surviving announcement names four events for a planned follow-up report. It is evidence of an editorial plan, not proof that the full report was published.

New editorial reading of a historical post. Original topic and URL preserved; commentary below is not an unaltered reproduction.

The announced scope

The original post, dated 18 January 2009, describes a chart covering 25 August to 10 January. It lists the financial crisis, the US presidential election, a Christmas rally and a New Year decline as topics for the forthcoming report.

The wording of the promised release date is inconsistent: the URL refers to January 31 while the body says “Jun 31, 2009.” We do not silently correct that into a confirmed release date.

Why an announcement cannot fill a missing report

The plan establishes what the authors intended to examine. It does not provide the completed report’s conclusions, final participant count, country breakdown or full dataset. We have not recovered a complete second report from the sources checked.

The original chart link was identifiable, but the image was not retrievable in our recovery attempt. Instead of recreating it from its caption, we preserve the stated scope and link to the surviving announcement.

An open question for the archive

A complete report, a dated draft or an exported chart with provenance would materially improve the record. If you have one, please contact info@ratethegod.com with a description.

The second-report archive page explains what is and is not available. The broader history continues with independently inspectable homepage captures from 2009 and 2010.
